Brief History About Divine Step Schools.

Brief History of the School
Divine Step School was established in 1987 as Godswill Day Nursery School, Aba by her founder Mr. Christian Agaodichinma Igwe (TLP) and her Proprietress/first headmistress Ezinne (Mrs) Florence Nnenna U.C. Igwe B.Ed (Obi di Ebube). Because of what the school stands for: care, discipline, academic excellence and perfect moral balance, it grew in leaps and bounds under acclaimed accolades and testimonies that its reformation for expansion became inevitable. In September 1997, the founder saw the school through a rebranding process that brought about its change of name to Divine Step Academy with the introduction of primary section. This too became a reigning brand name in and around its environs and beyond, leading to its fast growth rate too. Earlier before then, the nursery section had already expanded up to its second campus known as campus II which was initially at 30 Akukwu Street and now at 21 Akukwu Street Aba.
This also later developed and had its own primary section which is doing fine now.
The ideology and standard of the school in discipline/character formation, academic excellence and conduct control led the parents of the school and her PTA (Parents Teachers Association) executives led by Mr. Emmanuel Ejiofor upon the demise of the founder to urge the management of the school to start the secondary arm against all odds. With the support, hard work and good will of this upright and one of the most outstanding PTA chairmen the school has ever recorded, late Mr. Emmanuel Ejiofor, the secondary section was born in September, 2013 at 9A St Johns Street off Iheorji Avenue, Aba even when the Building was still under construction. The success story of the school kept expanding with the good growth of the secondary section beginning with its first principal, Mr. Lawrence Opiah, who was succeeded by Mr. Francis Edet and now Lady Egwu Oluchi being the incumbent principal. It is also worthy of mention that within few months/years of its establishment, the various sections of the school got full government approvals and also those of examination bodies making them centres for: First School Leaving Certificate Examination (FSLC), and State Common Entrance Examination, West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC), Senior School Certificate Examination from National Examination Council (NECO), and Junior School Certificate Examination (JSCE) etc.
The school houses a large number of dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff across her 3 campuses. We have well equipped Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Agriculture Science Laboratories, Standard Library, Computer/ICT Lab among other facilities.
Apart from the indefatigable efforts of the governing board and management teams of the school, we owe the excellent performances/successes of our present and past pupils and students scattered over all walks/spheres of life and universities within and beyond the shores of the country to our team of highly intelligent and dedicated staff who are disciplined, devoted to their call and professionals in their fields. The successes we consistently record is a testimony of their hard work.
In the area of extra-curricular activities, we have worn numerous trophies by the school football team, state march-pasts, quiz competitions, spelling Bee, exhibitions and lots more.
Colours to our feathers include regular and periodic academic trips/excursions, academic day, career day, Father Christmas shows and Carols of 9 lessons, biennial inter-house sports competitions, annual valedictory service and graduation party/ceremony (for outgoing/transitting students/pupils, cultural day, open day, among others).
The school furthermore records a frontline position of schools whose students recorded a full Musical album under the auspices of the school.
